Steve113  -  October 3, 2006, 03:10
happened to me on BF2 about an hour ago! :P
arleas  -  October 3, 2006, 08:44
No, the harrier had a problem with the vertical thrust... it put a column of hot air straight down, and then the same hot air would be sucked back into the intakes, making it harder to maintain the same level of thrust... I probably explained it wrong.. I just remembered it from the NOVA video on public TV about the new JSF having to use measures to prevent the same thing happening to it...

or else it might have been one of these:

mbandgeek  -  October 17, 2006, 22:36

SNOOTSNOT  -  November 21, 2006, 01:40
Everyone knows Harriers can"t hover well too close to water.Thats what happens when you don't know your Aircraft.
flyman_125  -  December 2, 2006, 14:42
shit it happens
Lowestoft guy (guest)  -  December 30, 2006, 17:46
i was there when this happened, it was at an air show in lowestoft. i think the pilot broke both his ankles
Scorpio  -  February 9, 2007, 03:13
"In August, an RAF Harrier slammed into the sea as the pilot parachuted to safety in front of thousands of spectators at a Suffolk air show. The cause of the crash is under investigation." this is directly from the link that arleas posted. I dunno if lowestoft and suffolk are the same or if it happened more than once... lol

I actually saw this in real life. And the main reason it happend was that he was running out of fuel. So snootsnoot, the water had nothing to do with it.
