"A FAA Radar track sequence of a bank of FedEx aircraft getting into Memphis as thunderstorms pass over the airport."
ihonzawa - March 13, 2007, 13:58
LOL. I can imagine the ATC handling all of the cargo aircraft...Looked like one had to head back, or settle for the nearest airport. ltmq!
IceCold (guest) - March 13, 2007, 16:40
Why isn't any aircraft's taking of? almost or what? or els a shity airport!
Deleted0001 - March 13, 2007, 20:42
Am I the only one being bloody stupid? Explain the map!
nuke21 - March 14, 2007, 00:07
Kinda dumb
dustin (guest) - March 14, 2007, 00:12
thats pretty cool
pre - March 14, 2007, 05:31
thats the coolest thing, they look like nats on a computer screen.
pre - March 14, 2007, 05:31
icecold, prob inbound flights only
IceCold (guest) - March 14, 2007, 08:09
Is there sutch a thing? an airport with only inbound flights? i did not know of this, then i ounderstand more, thx!
Captain Blizzard (guest) - March 14, 2007, 09:24
I loved there was a couple of planes just flying right through it, and even landing right in it. Come snow, come hailstorm, I don't care, I will land this damn thing! And then you wonder what the **** happened to your packet when you receive it in pieces :-)
Filter (guest) - March 14, 2007, 09:31
IceCold, they just filtered to show inbound flights only. The outbound flights are simply not shown on the sequence. Its not a plain radar image you are seeing but a filtered one. Believe me, on a plain radar image it is much harder to see the actual aircraft! There is a LOT of other artifacts on those. This is a computer manipulated image with just the aircraft (and the weather) shown. And once you have a computer inbetween you can start doing cool stuff like filtering out not just ground echoes but outgoing aircraft too.
aiii (guest) - March 14, 2007, 09:49
now imagine beeing a flight controler...
pre - March 15, 2007, 05:34
what filter said. just a click of the mouse and outboud flights go away.
Vilxan - March 15, 2007, 12:09
really makes you see how great ATC is. I could never direct planes like the way ATC does.
Steve113 - March 15, 2007, 13:52
HAHA RE: Airport with only inbound flights. That'd be stupid - Planes could never leave :D You'd end up with all the planes in the world stationed at this port - forever! :D oh dear some people are do dumb... you just made my day! :P
IceCold (guest) - March 15, 2007, 17:56
Some People dont understand sarcasm i seeeeeeee! :D o by the way, np it's on me!
Deleted0001 - March 16, 2007, 16:22
OK, sorry for being a bit dumb... I just couldn't imagine that there would be so damn many planes trying to land at the same time.
blindgaenger - March 17, 2007, 20:29
pretty cool :)
Fish (guest) - March 27, 2007, 07:59
badeanden90: this is ofc speeded up.
if it would be real speed they would not get of the runway in time. also all planes had to be really fast. (the weather too)
Vilxan - April 29, 2007, 13:36
hmm, just occured to me that if this was an ATC screen, the planes would have to have their squawk code on, showing the ATC their details, and there is not details of any of the planes landing, altitude, speed etc. I'm not saying this is , maybe they erased the details because it would look too crowded?
PillsburyDoughBoy - May 1, 2007, 05:34
Did you notice that some of them just disapered when they entered the storm?
tunak (guest) - May 2, 2007, 18:48
that looked like map of IRAQ lol
jcko (guest) - May 26, 2007, 21:48
No planes disappeared? I even rewatched to make sure. If believe it´s called "landing".
