Retired Submariner here. We used to call them Sanpping Shrimp. Could be awfully noisy!

Deleted0001 - May 28, 2007, 19:29
OMG, and they exist? Amazing.
AzureWrath (guest) - May 28, 2007, 22:30
Uhh? the same temperature as the sun? surely you jest!
Lillie (guest) - May 29, 2007, 03:23
How does an evolution explain this? Can't do it. Obviously designed for sure.
John (guest) - May 29, 2007, 07:58
My penis is obviously designed as well.
Such great things can't be the works of millions of years of evolution.
ZKG - May 29, 2007, 22:21
Pretty cool creatures. I want one as a pet.
luder - May 30, 2007, 03:09
Yeah, designed for sure! I bet this came from Japan. After seeing their wicked manga sci-fi stuff I always knew they were on to something.

They had one at a pet store here. It wasn't for sale just display and on the tank there were a lot of warnings...The glass was also very thick.
BBQ (guest) - June 3, 2007, 14:07
Designed yes! I will believe it's designed when I see the rocket launcher shrimp
Vector (guest) - June 15, 2007, 10:07
I would have liked to have heard what they actually sound like, rather than the overdubbed gun sound, makes this video somewhat irrelevant.
Why's everyone talking about 'design'? That is such an americanism and an insult to the dignity of humanity and the simple beauty of nature. But go ahead, believe whatever you like :)

I'm personally all for the Flying Spaghetti Monster theory. Anyway, this little guy is awesome. There's another one on here about the Lyrebird. Absolutely amazing. And yes, I, too, would like to see the Rocket Launcher Shrimp, smoking tiny cigarettes as he blows up a submarine.

Pretty dramatic with the dubbed in gun sounds but the shrimp are cool.
