dtfinch  -  July 19, 2006, 01:59
People want a car they can take on long trips, without stopping every 2 hours to charge it for 3.
McDrive  -  July 19, 2006, 02:06
Why does EVERY vid need a "fake" comment -.-
pre (guest)  -  July 19, 2006, 06:53
totally realistic, unless its fake. but i do see why oil companies would want to stomp on the electric car.
smartguy (guest)  -  July 20, 2006, 00:08

lack of consumer demand killed it, especially when gas was at record lows in the late 90s. high enough gas prices will create demand for it eventually. and government use of fuel cell vehicles has been on the rise, despite their obvious Bush-hate propaganda. this is just a political propaganda film.
blah (guest)  -  July 26, 2006, 13:20
well, you in america would by now be used to propaganda, beeing how you have and are still beeing brainwashed that you have the biggest and greatest country in the world. I have been to USA and seen what you show on tv... Good damn, other things happen in the world, stuff that does not cosern the US, but are still important. Start demonstraiting against the crap your government throws at you, in my country we do it all the time, and yes, stuff change.
CCCP (guest)  -  July 26, 2006, 23:47

GARYsurvivor (guest)  -  July 31, 2006, 11:36

dtfinch Fine, they can us etheir gasguzzlers on road trips, but how often do you go on a road trip? 360 days a year you go like a mile or two a day, just to get to work. Stupid americans
 Deleted0001  -  August 30, 2006, 15:47
Nothing else than true... Sad.
Gazman (guest)  -  September 19, 2006, 07:21
I don't want to be insulting but an electric vehicle is totally viable. And you would not have to stop to charge it. Infact you would pull into a gas station where an automated arm would remove your existing cell and replace it with a charged one. You wouldn't even need to get out of your car! I don't think oil companies are to blame for as yet not having mass production of electric vehicles. I think apathy is to blame. We not only have the technology to build electric cars but for them to drive themselves. When you look at the advances in history of things like music, TV, computers. The car is really a relic from the 1920's with very few changes from the original format.
Cal (guest)  -  September 19, 2006, 07:27
I run my dishwasher, vacuum, tv, stereo on electricity why not my car. Maybe I should keep quiet before the US government forces me to run my stuff on gas!
Chester Levi (guest)  -  September 19, 2006, 07:30
I converted my car to electric 6 years ago. I charge overnight and get 4 days driving from that. Cost $2.75 on my electricity bill! I don't care what anyone else does. I laugh at all the losers as I drive by the gas stations. They became history for me 6 years ago :)

When Edison invented the electric light bulb most thought it was a joke as candles worked just as well. Those people like the people today who cannot see the future very quickly become old and out of date. Embrace change. Don't let it scare you :)
Common Sense (guest)  -  October 5, 2006, 18:08
Chester, how much did that conversion cost you? 4 days, but how many miles? How long till you have to replace the battery(s)? What do they cost? Is that factored into your fuel costs? How much pollution is created to supply the electricity to run a electric car? How much for MILLIONS of electric cars? You are advocating more coal fired electricity generating plants? Nuclear? The reason this particular car failed (I believe it was the EV1) was initial vehicle cost, maintainence/repair costs and a lack of lack of long distance ability. Newer electric cars are better in all these respects but they still don't sell. Why? Still not good enough. When the technology is good enough and cheap enough, these puppies will sell. But it's a nice little anti-Bush propoganda puff piece. I've seen it playing at a local "alternative" movie theatre.
Truth (guest)  -  November 11, 2006, 07:30
The EV1 cost about the same as a luxury sedan. Repair costs were minimal and required very little time or effort. I drove that thing around all day on a single charge, and long distance traveling would have been great if more charing stations would have been built. And there was plenty of demand for the vehicle once people heard about it. Thousands of people tried to get their hands on one, but only certain people were allowed the privledge of driving one. And resource consumption was way below that of a gasoline vehicle. FYI the original battery was much more powerful than the watered-down version they chose to use. It was guaranteed to last the life of the car (which was a really long time), and remain energy efficient throughout it's lifespan. I still have the promotional pamphlet, somewhere.
