About the animal in cages thing, its really simple..
Animals are usually territoristic, and happy to keep their boundaries. 'Freedom' is a relative thing, caged animals have freedom from worrying about where their next meal will come from, and freedom from having to worry about predators.

Where bars for us seem to tell the animals 'stay in', they seem to the animals to be telling spectators 'stay out'.

Animals also normally get stressful being in small cages.. and by the way, how the fuck do you know what animals think? you some kinda animal-psycick?
