Because it's a species of spider that DO form big communities and DO make large webs. Mayhaps this one is larger than usual, but ask someone who knows, and not a random park ranger. Also, that species wouldn't be common in Texas, thus the surprise.
But please, before you air this... wouldn't you check with someone who knows?

I dont believe for a second that this is done by spiders, much rather the larvaes of a winter moth.

This web is done by CYBER spiders. The spiders are not sutisfied whi humans have taken their trademarket name "web" so they are nor are organized to make the original Spider WWW aka SWWW. This is the true be cause the spiders told me those words.
